CARBON FOOTPRINT

In the past carbon emission wasn’t high like nowadays. In past the people did not care about the CO2 and they did not use up the natural resources. Nowadays, most of the natural resources have been used to produce electricity and that means leaving high a carbon footprint of waste. This essay will show my research into carbon footprints and will suggest how to decrease our impact on environment.
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation etc. I have visited many web sites to measure my carbon foot print and I found www.heroesoftheuae.ae/en so easy to use and it took only three minutes to do it. As I have small family the result was 1.1 planets and cooling taking majority of my foot print. So it seems very good in a hot county like the UAE. Then used another site http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ to see and to check. There were four categories food, travel, home, and stuff and I got 3.07 planets. It seems different because the calculator was more specific and has more questions. In the first site the result of producing CO2 per a year was 15.1 tones where the second one was 14.2 tones.
I compared my foot print to my four of class mates Abdulla got 3.0 planets, Anas got 2.3 planets as he lives alone. Sami got the highest foot print by 7.8 planets as use 8 cylinders vehicle and he travels a lot and he is careless about switch lights and devices off.
In brief, some of my class mates shocked by their foot print, so I suggest to them to reduce their foot prints by adjusting AC’s temperature and turn them off when out of home. In addition replace the lighting bulbs which more efficient to save the energy.
In last 10 years the UAE was educating the students in the schools to save the energy by very simple methods. The results were very good in a modern county and increasing of population.

An Inconvenient Truth argument

An inconvenient Truth is a successful movie in my opinion. Mr. Al Gore presented some scientific evidences about the global warming and what may happen in the future if the Earth’s citizens don’t do anything to stop that problem, but the movie also has some scientific errors as some experts says.

Judge Michael Burton ruled at the High Court of London that the movie is contains scientific errors. The movie warns that polar bears are sinking as they try to swim for very long distance to find rapidly disappearing Arctic ice, but the evidence that came out in court says it's just not true. Scientific study show that four polar bears have recently been found sank because of a storm. The movie also claims that the world's sea levels will rise up to 20 feet "in the near future, but the sea levels would rise that much "only after" thousands of years. Earlier this year a group of scientists, the International Panel on Climate Change, predicted that by 2100, sea levels would rise by seven to 23 inches (Soltis).

However, there are also arguments in favour of the movie. Mr. AL Gore shows that human actions are creating such dangerous levels of carbon dioxide that we are at a critical moment. Increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is already dangerously affecting the temperature of waters on earth. From simple graphs to photographs of his home and family as well as pictures of hurricanes and receding glaciers he approved the global warming is going to happen in future (Cunneen).

In brief, my opinion is we should reduce the emotions of CO2.the number of factories, cars and Cos sources are increasing, so we should do what can we do to save our environment and to save our children future. I beieve that Al Gore did the right thing by presenting that film. the movie has very useful idea to keep the Earth clean. I think the film is great and very useful
