Abu Dhabi traffic congestion

In the past people used move freely by the cars in Abu Dhabi. There were lower car accidents. There were larger spaces to stop the cars. Nowadays, the vehicles users complain about the traffic congestions and lots of time. This change has had many effects on people’s lives and productivity. In my essay I’m going to mention some causes and effects.
In my vision I see many reasons for these traffic congestions. First, the constructions and development projects. That lead the heavy vehicles come into Abu Dhabi. Second, widening roads projects have made a lot of diverting and closed some main roads. Third, the population and number of vehicles had increased. Especially younger drivers like. Fifth, the careless pedestrians whose are ignoring the rules.
This change has serious effects. It affects people’s health, time, and social life. Most of the old drivers have some dieses like high blood pressure, stress and diabetes, so it can cause harm health problems for them. Moreover, losing of time which causes lower productivity in workers and losing of profits. Also that change can affect social life. For example the parents spend most of their time at work in addition they stuck in the congestions, so they less time with their kids.
In brief, the government has to work faster to find solutions. In my opinion affecting people’s health is main lose. In addition people should be patient and try to find the relaxations while driving.

Indoor pollution

Most people spend their time indoors. They are not in safe place away from smokestacks. According to EPA that air inside homes is more polluted than atmosphere.
One of the main sources of indoor pollution is the poorly ventilated or unventilated kitchens. Using wood, coal or dung fires for cooking increasing the risk percentage for young children who can be killed by poisoning smokes. To solve this problem can be as simple as changing this method of cooking with better ventilated cooks stoves, but those stoves are not cheap for poor people. For example in India and China which both have highest population.
About twenty percent of the Americans children struggling with asthma and many types of cancer. They send thousands to hospitals each year and the number is rising. The experts’ advice is to use air filter machines like a portable air cleaner. Purifying the indoor air may reduce the pollution, but how you can know that machine is working whereas a small portable machine can cost around two hundred dollar. Many health experts say those machines are not necessary for most of Americans.
The WHO estimates that 1.6 million deaths per year in developing countries around the world. In brief, house plants maybe the cheapest way to improve indoor air quality. Using two or three house plants in each flat or small house will purify better. Non toxic chemicals cleaning solutions are better to use and safer. Make your home safe place to live.

Logging the trees

The importance of the trees does not stop on making furniture, paper or other wood products. The trees are the air filter for the Earth. The trees change the Carbon dioxide to Oxygen which the Human beings need to live. The forests are the home for the animal, birds and Insects. The man in the used the trees for making coal, weapons, boats and many Primitive objects, but he did use the amount of the wood like now. Nowadays, most the forests on the Earth are going to disappear because of the human activities. In this topic I will explain the problems of logging the forests and I will suggest some possible solutions.

Starting with the problems with some researches which I did is really sad to me. First, problem is logging the trees from years ago for the same area caused desertification such as Africa where most the jungles are shrinking and cattle died (eden-foundation). Another, problem is the green house gas will increase and that is the main reason for the global warming due to the logging in world. Yet another problem is the importance of the trees pulp in many industries. For example paper which take the lion share of using of the pulp also the paper cannot be recycled as good quality as before and it coast more money, so the need of logging will not stop (thecanadianencyclopedia). Finally, the advanced machines make the trees and the forests shrinking faster (illegal-logging).

Turing to the solutions I’d like to say we should start with our selves by satisfy with recycled paper. In this case the requirement on pulp will be less. Another solution is try to avoid the using the paper and depend on computers technology for everything if you could. That will work greatly to reduce the consumption using paper. Yet another solution is replanting the demolished land by seedlings (clfa). Finally, the governments should work to stop the illegal logging and organize the logging seasons
In conclusion, the forests are important for balancing the Earth environment. We should keep the Earth green for our children future. Joining voluntary work for replanting and teaching the young generation about the importance for forests would be good work to prove the replanting.

Cool Cities are impractical

Many people think that cool cities are the solution for the global warming. In fact cool cities are impractical for several reasons which will be mentioned in this essay supported by Masdar city which going to build in Abu Dhabi.
The population in the world is more than 6 billion. Cool cities would not be practical because it can hold low population. For example Masdar city hold 47500 population only ( Masdar Site) where Abu Dhabi population in 2030 will be around 3.1 million. Another problem is the cost of the cool cities. To build modern buildings, modern transport networks, planting large areas. And making large water surfaces needs huge budget. Masdar will cost $22 billion (Wikipedia). Even during construction the cities would be problem. CO2 emissions will increase and after building them the emissions will produce. Another issue came to my mind is living in the cool cities would change our life styles. There would not be any more traditions any more like before. The life style would be more different especially for a community like UAE. The UAE people like stick with traditions which they believe.
In conclusion, the cool cities would be practical and a good solution to save the Earth for our children future. Building beautiful city like Masdar will be impractical as my opinion supported by examples and facts. Instead, we should plant trees and make green buildings and we should the power energy.

CARBON FOOTPRINT

In the past carbon emission wasn’t high like nowadays. In past the people did not care about the CO2 and they did not use up the natural resources. Nowadays, most of the natural resources have been used to produce electricity and that means leaving high a carbon footprint of waste. This essay will show my research into carbon footprints and will suggest how to decrease our impact on environment.
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation etc. I have visited many web sites to measure my carbon foot print and I found www.heroesoftheuae.ae/en so easy to use and it took only three minutes to do it. As I have small family the result was 1.1 planets and cooling taking majority of my foot print. So it seems very good in a hot county like the UAE. Then used another site http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ to see and to check. There were four categories food, travel, home, and stuff and I got 3.07 planets. It seems different because the calculator was more specific and has more questions. In the first site the result of producing CO2 per a year was 15.1 tones where the second one was 14.2 tones.
I compared my foot print to my four of class mates Abdulla got 3.0 planets, Anas got 2.3 planets as he lives alone. Sami got the highest foot print by 7.8 planets as use 8 cylinders vehicle and he travels a lot and he is careless about switch lights and devices off.
In brief, some of my class mates shocked by their foot print, so I suggest to them to reduce their foot prints by adjusting AC’s temperature and turn them off when out of home. In addition replace the lighting bulbs which more efficient to save the energy.
In last 10 years the UAE was educating the students in the schools to save the energy by very simple methods. The results were very good in a modern county and increasing of population.

An Inconvenient Truth argument

An inconvenient Truth is a successful movie in my opinion. Mr. Al Gore presented some scientific evidences about the global warming and what may happen in the future if the Earth’s citizens don’t do anything to stop that problem, but the movie also has some scientific errors as some experts says.

Judge Michael Burton ruled at the High Court of London that the movie is contains scientific errors. The movie warns that polar bears are sinking as they try to swim for very long distance to find rapidly disappearing Arctic ice, but the evidence that came out in court says it's just not true. Scientific study show that four polar bears have recently been found sank because of a storm. The movie also claims that the world's sea levels will rise up to 20 feet "in the near future, but the sea levels would rise that much "only after" thousands of years. Earlier this year a group of scientists, the International Panel on Climate Change, predicted that by 2100, sea levels would rise by seven to 23 inches (Soltis).

However, there are also arguments in favour of the movie. Mr. AL Gore shows that human actions are creating such dangerous levels of carbon dioxide that we are at a critical moment. Increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is already dangerously affecting the temperature of waters on earth. From simple graphs to photographs of his home and family as well as pictures of hurricanes and receding glaciers he approved the global warming is going to happen in future (Cunneen).

In brief, my opinion is we should reduce the emotions of CO2.the number of factories, cars and Cos sources are increasing, so we should do what can we do to save our environment and to save our children future. I beieve that Al Gore did the right thing by presenting that film. the movie has very useful idea to keep the Earth clean. I think the film is great and very useful

what is global warming?

Global warming is a gradual increase the planet’s average ground and atmosphere temperature across whole earth. Studies have showed that the global temperature has increased by one degree in the past century.
The human activities have increased the carbon dioxide (CO2) and other green gasses and that the beginning of the risk. The scientists believe that a rise of (CO2) will lead to further global warming. The human activities are partly responsible of what have happened in last the century by producing the green gasses.
The climate has changed in the most earth areas. The number of the hurricanes increased, ice caps melting as satellites images approved. The deserts spots become larger. The scientists say it would be worst if the humans did do thing to stop the disasters which may happen in five decades further.
